When you want a quick run-down of what is going on, here is where to find it.

At the meeting, we made cast introductions. You can find users contact information here: tontinegame.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=contact&action=display&thread=55.
Bonus Bucks Challenge 1 has been preempted to 7:05 PM EST on Monday, right before Leg 1 begins at 8:05 PM EST.
Because there are eleven teams instead of ten, this round is a DOUBLE ELIMINATION. The last team to arrive will be eliminated right off the bat. Their key will go to the first place team. Then, the next three teams (coming in tenth, ninth, and eighth place) will be nominated for elimination, like normal.
All casted players should have an account made for them on the forums now.
You can access it using your team password that you gave me in your application. Feel free to change your password, afterwards.
In your "Profile" section, feel free to amend the information.
You can set your "Avatar" (one has been custom-made for each of you).
You can also set your Time Zone (all times for the game are in EST, so it should be correct, but you may need to set it into Daylight Savings Time).
Peruse the forums, get acquainted.
You should each have access to a team board, where you can talk to your teammate, make important voting decisions, and track your progress.
Please look at the "Default Voting List" thread there for more information.
Next, at the meeting, we reviewed the rules. Cliffs notes are as follows.
Each team starts with one key to the Tontine.
Each leg, the three worst performing players are nominated for elimination.
All teams cast one vote to eliminate for each key in their possession.
When a team gets eliminated, they will award all of their keys to a team still in the game (they will also award a Fast Pass if they have it). This is known as Good Karma.
Eliminated teams can also punish a team still in the game by forcing them to complete a Speed Bump. This is known as Bad Karma.
The team that comes in first place in a leg can steal a key from any other team that has more than one key.
In the event of a tie vote, a re-vote will resolve it.
Now, to review how a normal leg works, we walked through the "Leg 0" forum category. Here's an idea.
Teams start the leg with a choice, some teams may elect to pay $100 from their budget to complete a Side Track task, three questions and a final answer. The first team to complete it can force another team to complete the Speed Bump task at the end of the leg.
If no team completes the Side Track once teams begin to finish the Detour, then everyone must complete the Speed Bump. Only the first team to complete the Side Track will win it, and teams can use the Side Track more than once.
Teams must complete air transportation. All legs are ASSUMED to begin at 9:05 PM in the time zone of the host country. Teams will book flights from a starting location to an ending location. Teams will submit flight itineraries to tontine.flights@gmail.com.
Teams will be assessed a penalty at the end of the leg for the time they spend "in transit," which is the time from when they submit their itinerary to when their itinerary arrives. For the game, the date of the flight doesn't matter; we simply assume that it will be TODAY (or the next time that hour occurs on a 24-hour clock, today or tomorrow then).
If team's flights start at an airport different from the starting location or end at one different from the ending location, teams will be considered "in transit" for a time specified by Google Maps, and pay from their budget an amount equal to one dollar per mile traveled.
Teams "in transit" time will be converted to a penalty, where one hour "in transit" is one minute in real life.
Emails must be submitted from the email addresses that were specified in your application.
Teams will complete tasks like Detours, Yields (small cipher puzzles) and Roadblocks on each leg. You need an access code to see the task. Upon completion, you will be given a Forum Password and Team Validation code to prove you did it. Use the Forum Password to access the forum with the name of that task. Post your Team Validation as proof.
You can try this with the Side Track and Speed Bump examples in the "Leg 0" forum category on the main page.
There are also other games to be played.
Every round will hold a Bonus Bucks Challenge, where teams can put $100 into a group kitty, winner takes all.
One team will also win the Fast Pass in this on-going board game, seen here: tontinegame.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=challengeinfo&action=display&thread=8
