Bonus Bucks Challenge
Time: Leg 5
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Name: أرقام (Number Attack) – Arabic
Before the game, each team secretly selects one number from each of the colored rows on the number grid.
The goal of the game is to be the last team standing in the second phase of the competition with one or more “vase” intact.
The team that wins the game will earn all of the money contributed to the group kitty. The kitty will start at $400 (since 6 teams are remaining), and each participating team will add $100 to it.
At the beginning of the game, teams will be shown a number grid and will select one number in each colored row. Teams will be given “compression points” for each number tile that they select from the grid equal in value to the number depicted on that tile. However, if more than one team picks the same tile of the same row, all teams who pick that tile will get nothing from it. This ends the first phase of the competition.
In the second phase of the challenge, each team will secretly distribute their compression points among three vases of their team color (labeled A, B and C). Other teams will now be attacking those vases using “weights.”
This phase of the challenge will take place in “rounds.” In each round, each team will have a “turn,” in a randomly selected order as determined before the game. At the beginning of a team’s turn, they will be given a certain number of weights, the same for every turn. Then, if they choose to they can “attack” any vase with up to as many weights as are in their possession. If the number of weights used to attack the vase is greater than or equal to the number of compression points the vase holds, then the vase breaks. If, however, the number of weights is less than the number of compression points, then the attack does nothing. In either case, the weights used in the attack are lost. If a team’s attack is successful and the vase breaks, their turn is over. Otherwise, they may attack again if they have any remaining weights that they would like to use.
If a team chooses to not use any or all of their weights, they can save and store them to add to their total number of weights for upcoming rounds. This concludes one team’s turn, and the next team’s turn would begin. After all teams take a turn, the round completes and the order repeats.
When all three of a team’s vases break, they are eliminated from the challenge.
The team order in which teams will take their turns will be selected at random.
Again, the last team standing with at least one vase intact wins the challenge—and all of the money in the kitty.
